Note
From a Family Helped by Pay-It-Forward in 2009
Thank
you for the monetary help your company recently gave to me and my
husband. We have fallen on hard times lately, and with the
generous gift, we were able to pay some of our bills this month.
We have always been in the "pay it forward" mentality, taking in
friends when they needed it, helping them find jobs, being
recommendations for jobs or clearances. We are so grateful to
have the favor returned to us now in our time of greatest need, and
we hope for a day when we can be of service again.
Adam has
been out of work since March of 2007. His active duty position
with the Marines came to an end, and as it ended, Adam became very
very sick. First were the numerable inexplicable injuries,
followed by a gastro-intestinal disease that the doctors are still
trying to diagnose 33 biopsies and two colonoscopies later (he's
only 27 years old). For much of 2008, Adam was in and out of
the hospital with bouts of immobilizing gastro attacks, migrains,
back pain, had numerous doctors appointments, and generally couldn't
care for himself. He was bedridden for much of the time, and I
could not hold a regular job and care for him, so I was unemployed
for several months to help him recover. I found some part time
work, but it wasn't enough, and our savings ran out over a year and
a half ago. Thankfully, the VA pays for most of Adam's doctor
visits, treatments, and medicines, but not all if it. In
October, Adam became well enough to stay at home by himself, and I
have been working two jobs. Unfortunately, even with overtime,
I still can't pay the bills. The medical bills are mounting,
with more to come. We moved in with my parents for support.
More recently, Adam had a cervical spinal fusion that did not
correct the problem, so he will probably have to have another
surgery very soon. Things have been especially tight this
month since I took the time off work to be with Adam for his
surgeries (the first had life threatening complications requiring a
second surgery 24 hours later). Also, I will have to
have surgery soon as well, but there is little enough money for
bills let alone another surgery and recovery in the family.
However, thanks to the generosity of your company, I will be able to
pay a few more bills this month. You have been a much needed,
much prayed for blessing. Thank you, from the bottom of my
heart, from both my husband and I.
Sincerely,
Jackie
