Helping A Family
Cope With Loss
A family in Huntsville has been hit very hard by a tragic event. A
co-worker of my sister’s has six girls. Two of these girls are 12
year old twins who have been staying the summer with their
grandmother in New Jersey. Tuesday morning, the grandmother was
violently stabbed and killed by her schizophrenic 40 year old son.
He lived in the basement of the grandmother’s home and had quit
taking his medication. The grandmother and twins had planned to
leave the next day to return to Alabama where the grandmother
intended to relocate with her daughter and grandchildren.
One of the twins called 911 when the grandmother was being
attacked. Once the grandmother had been killed, the man then
attacked the two girls. One of the girls was in critical condition
for weeks, but she did survive. The other girl was in grave
condition, but later blinked her eyes and smiled at her mother.
Unfortunately the second girl did not survive.
This family is going to have a large amount of travel and medical
bills I used the Pay-It Forward Funds to help assist them during
this tragic time.
